For the Bearmouth E & W section of this project on I-90, it is approximately 15.2 miles between the Drummond Interchange and the Bearmouth Interchange, with no Interchanges in between. There are several existing median crossings in place, including those at approximate reference post locations 142.6, 142.3, 138.1, 137.7, 134.8, and 132.8. Will MDT allow the contractor to use these existing median turn-arounds for the various items of work on this project? We believe that use of these turn-arounds would reduce both the duration and cost of this work. If the use of these turn-arounds is allowed, will MDT measure the necessary traffic control for payment?
Answer
Submitted: Tuesday 27-MAR-2018 08:22 AM
MDT will consider traffic control proposals that include median crossing turn-arounds in accordance with section 618.03.7 and other applicable specifications. Only one median crossing will be allowed per day (or shift). None have been approved at this time. Traffic control will be measured for payment at approved median crossing turn-arounds.
