On the mastic what formula did you use to figure the pounds of material? Also what width do you want to see on the crack? Do you know how thick the cracks are on average?
Answer
Submitted: Monday 02-APR-2018 11:35 AM
0.5 lb/foot crack was used based on previous project experience with similar cracks.
Use the appropriate shoe to provide a level surface across the crack.
The thickness of the cracks depends on the time of the year.
An addenda will be issued to correct the quantity for Crack Filling.

Upon award of this contract, if due diligence to obtain a MT DEQ Open Cut Mining permit for a pit to be utilized on this project is demonstrated to MDT by the Contractor, will MDT consider a delay caused as a result of the permitting process to be a "delay not caused by the Contractor's fault or negligence" as per section 108.07.4 A of the Standard Specifications? If so, would the time extension remain consistent with the time required to obtain a MT DEQ Open Cut Mining permit, allowing the Contractor a reasonable amount of contract time to complete the work?
Answer
Submitted: Tuesday 24-APR-2018 10:12 AM
Allow a minimum of 45 calendar days to receive required permits, authorizations, or notifications from the date of the submittal of a complete request, unless a different timeframe is specified by the regulatory agency. The Department is not responsible for delays caused be incomplete or inaccurate submittals by the Contractor. If the contractor can demonstrate due diligence in attempting to obtain a MT DEQ Open Cut Mining Permit, and is not able to begin work on the Notice to Proceed date due to reasons beyond their control, the Project Manager will not charge contract time per subsection 108.02 Notice to Proceed.
