The files linked below represent the as-built drawings for the structures. MDT provides them for informational purposes only. They do not include drawings for modifications to the structures, such as joint replacements and guardrail revisions and may not completely represent current conditions. Thus, some of the information contained in these documents may be out of date or not applicable with regard to the advertised project. The contractor should not rely solely on the as-built drawings provided for bidding purposes nor does any data in these files supersede the data in the contract documents.

Is there a link to the full geotechnical report for the project?
Answer
Submitted: Monday 04-JUN-2018 11:10 AM
Attached are PDF Files of the available project alignment and/or structures geotechnical report(s), geotechnical report supplements, and geotechnical laboratory summaries. There is remaining geotechnical information that is voluminous and very difficult to compile in a concise manner. Contractors are welcome to come to MDT Headquarters to inspect rock samples taken for the project that are stored here or to look through the complete set of Geotechnical field investigation notes, laboratory testing, analytical, or other data in our project files. It should be noted that the project may have undergone significant changes during the design process after the original geotechnical report and supplements were issued. Thus, some of the information contained in these documents may be out of date or not applicable with regard to the advertised project. Some of the changes include, but are not limited to: Project splits (for funding, ROW issues, etc.); alignment and grade changes; and changes due to environmental factors (sensitive areas, etc.). The documents can be found at: GEOTECH REPORT

There appears to be some confusion with the quantities listed in the plans for the crossovers. Sheet 113 & 114 each have a summary box for the estimated quantities for the same entrance ramp (four summary boxes for two locations). This would be doubling up the materials. Sheet 115 & 116 also have summary boxes(4) for the same median crossovers(2) which would double up these quantities as well. The stationing listed on these sheets is also wrong. Please issue new sheets with the proper estimated quantities (Including Emb) and stationing to avoid the possibility of doubling the costs to do the work.
Answer
Submitted: Monday 11-JUN-2018 03:37 PM
The informational quantities are published in duplicate on the corresponding plan sheets for the crossovers and should not be double counted. There is an error for the informational quantities for the crossovers and the following quantities should be used for your information.
West End Ramp Crossover STA 380+07 to STA 387+14 EB/WB
Plant Mix Surfacing 595 tons
Asphalt Cement 36.9 tons
Crushed Aggregate Course 771 cubic yards
Emulsified Asphalt Tack 116 gals
24” Drain w/racets 530 feet
East End Ramp Crossover STA 413+43 to STA 428+05 EB/WB

Emulsified Asphalt Tack 168 gals
24” Drain w/racets 800 feet
West End Crossover STA 288+36 to STA 296+40 EB/WB
Plant Mix Surfacing 647 tons
Asphalt Cement 40.1 tons
Crushed Aggregate Course 839 cubic yards
Emulsified Asphalt Tack 126 gals
Cable Guardrail 240.8 feet
24” Drain w/racets 580 feet
East End Crossover STA 502+26 to STA 510+30 EB/WB
Plant Mix Surfacing 647 tons
Asphalt Cement 40.1 tons
Crushed Aggregate Course 839 cubic yards
Emulsified Asphalt Tack 126 gals
Cable Guardrail 240.8 feet
24” Drain w/racets 580 feet
The stationing shown on the details is intentionally broad to indicate the range in which field staff can locate the crossovers. The stationing does not represent the begin / end stations for construction of the crossovers. Construct the crossovers at the locations directed by the Project Manager.
Detail design mapping does not exist at the locations of the crossovers and estimated embankment quantities have been calculated based on assumed field conditions. Contractors should make their own assessment regarding costs to be included in the bid price for the crossovers.

Special provision 21 and the plan pages 115 and 116 require cable rail to be placed across the crossovers that are to remain in place. No specifics are given as to what type is required. The drawings however appear to look like the cable rail shown in the MDOT drawings. In every project that i am aware of, there has been a requirement to use the NCHRP 350 median cable rail to close crossovers. Which is to be bid on this project?
Answer
Submitted: Tuesday 12-JUN-2018 03:45 PM
Install high tension cable rail systems and terminal sections on the specified cross-overs when ramps are no longer needed for the construction of the project. The cable rail and terminal sections need to be NCHRP 350 approved and installed per the manufacturers drawings. Install cable rail where it won't be in conflict with drainage structures. Include the cost of the cable rail and terminal sections in the lump sum bid crossover-const, maintain, close.
