Can MDT please clarify the color and stamp pattern for the 3" and 6" median caps. Is this a different color and/or pattern than the brick red and tooled pattern for the truck apron? Can the truck apron pattern be clarified? Is it to be stamped or patterned tooled joints? I have seen both specified in the documents.
Answer
Submitted: Tuesday 30-OCT-2018 08:46 AM
The stamp pattern for the truck apron must be a brick pattern. The median caps can be brick pattern or cobble as shown in the plans. The patterns are to be stamped. In accordance with the special provision, joints are to be hand-tooled. All colored concrete is to be "Brick Red".

Can MDT please provide the CADD drawing of the concrete sculptures with measurements and/or coordinates.
Answer
Submitted: Tuesday    30-OCT-2018 10:09 AM
Sculptures are to be cast-in-place concrete or pre-cast.  Provide shop drawings of sculptures showing shapes, colors and dimensions.  Provide one full-size mock up illustrating full range of colors, forms, finishes, reinforcement and anchoring mechanisms for sculpture.  The mock-up may remain in place as part of permanent construction, if approved by the Project Manager.  Forms for CIP concrete can be bendable fiber-board, plastic mold, Styrofoam or other material capable of creating smooth and detailed shapes as shown in the drawings.  Cold joints are to be located between different colors of concrete.  All visible edges of concrete must have ¼" rad corners.  Concrete mix for the sculptures is to conform with MDT standards for Concrete Class General.
The linked CADD files are for information only for the contractor's use in generating shop drawings.

Please clarify the Measurement and Payment section of SP #31.  What is meant by "Traffic gravel and traffic control for the temporary detours/widening at the roundabouts will be paid separately for each phase."  Is traffic control paid by the established bid item 618 030 005, by the unit?  Or, are some elements of traffic control to be considered incidental and included elsewhere in the bid?
Answer
Submitted: Tuesday 13-NOV-2018 08:21 AM
Temporary detour traffic control will be paid for by the unit.
