Is SWPPP required on this project or just Line item# 0040 BMP Administration and line# 0050 Temporary Erosion Control?

Answer
Submitted: Thursday 14-MAR-2019 08:15 AM
Please review Special Provision 12.  The area of disturbance within the construction limits is less than one acre, therefore no SWPPP permit is required.  If the contractor exceeds this threshold due to their own operations a permit would be required.

The typical section for the 0.5' portland cement concrete pavement does not show any reinforcing. Is reinforcing required for the PCCP? If so, is it per MDT drawing 501-00 PCCP joints?

Detail drawing 501-00 shows 1.5" Diameter dowel bars in the transverse contraction joints and the PMS transverse transition detail. ACI (325.12R-15) states dowel bars are not needed for city streets, and also states dowels are not needed for concrete less than 8 inches in thickness. The larger dowels will likely cause cracking in the concrete pavement. Considering a 1 year warranty against concrete cracking is part of this contract, will the department consider removing the requirement for dowel bars in the concrete pavement?
Answer
Submitted: Monday  18-MAR-2019 01:26 PM
After further consideration, the dowel bars in the transverse contraction joints and the PMS transverse transition will be eliminated.

Looking through all the plans, drawings and bid documents for specifications on reinforcing steel for the drive approaches and the PCCP. I don’t see any specifications for reinforcing steel. Would this be correct?
