Cold Milling of the existing PMS surface is not measured for payment. For informational purposes, the estimated quantity of cold milling is 1449.00 SQYD and cold milling depth as shown on Typical Section No. 2 (Plan Sheet 4) is 0.30 feet. Include the cost of cold milling in Bid Item 401 020 055, COMMERCIAL MIX-3/8 IN-PG 64-28.

On bridge #05868 the estimated bridge plan quantities on sheet B1 indicates 30 SY of painting. Special provision #34 states each bearing will be measured at .75 SY/ea. Where is the additional quantity located beyond the bearings? On bridge #05873 the estimated bridge plan quantities on sheet B1 indicates 50 SY of painting. Special provision #34 states each bearing will be measured at 1.50 SY/ea. Painting the 16 bearings leave 26 SY of painting to be performed on the riveted plate girders. Can MDT provide where this plate girder painting is needed so we can provide the needed access to these areas without making assumptions?

Bridge #05868: (5 bearings)*(8 Sets)*(0.75 SQYD) = 30 SQYD.
Bridge #05873: The remaining 26 SQYD of spot painting is anticipated to occur below the open deck joints at Bents No.1 and No.4 (Girders and Cross Frames).
The Project Manager will determine the actual spot painting locations, which could occur anywhere between the end bents.

The bridges at RP 41.85 and RP 58.03 have asphalt paving off of both ends of the structures. Does the asphalt paving need to be completed on each lane while the temporary positive protection barrier is in place or can the lane be opened with a graveled or milled surface?

Complete final paving prior to opening the lane to traffic. Temporary positive protection is not required to perform paving operations.
